Primordial Soup Red Blend 75cl

Description

Primordial Soup Red Blend is an approachable and vibrant red from South Africa’s Western Cape, crafted by Boutinot South Africa from Cinsault and Shiraz grapes. Fresh, sappy, and intensely youthful at just 11% ABV, this is a red that captures the essence of South African cultivars in their most accessible and enjoyable form.

Why You’ll Love It

Boutinot South Africa is driven by a passion for discovery and a desire to capture the true character of South African vineyards. Primordial Soup Red is the red counterpart to their White Blend, sharing the same philosophy: great fruit, careful winemaking, and a touch of ingenuity. Inspired by the illustrations of German naturalist Ernst Haeckel and the ancient maritime caves of Pinnacle Point, this is a wine that combines history, science, and art in every glass. A portion of the blend is passed through a spinning cone column to gently reduce alcohol while retaining aromatic intensity, producing a wine that is genuinely refreshing without sacrificing character.

Vineyard and Production

Cinsault and Shiraz grapes are harvested from the Western Cape and whole-bunch pressed. Fermentation is carefully controlled, followed by malolactic fermentation. A portion of the blend is passed through a spinning cone column to gently reduce alcohol while retaining volatile aroma compounds, before being reintegrated to create a balanced wine of approximately 11% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Bright, youthful aromas of fresh red berries with hints of summer pudding. The palate is fresh and sappy, showing crushed Morello cherries and a cranberry tang, finishing with a touch of spice. A crunchy, approachable red that is hard to put down.
