Claire famously withdrew this wine from the Bourgogne Aligoté appellation, though it is routinely considered among the best expressions of this grape in Burgundy. The nose is spicy with orange notes and a slightly savoury edge. In the mouth, it’s mealy, textured and complex with attractive citrus character. There is a pleasant phenolic grip here. Claire adds no SO2 during vinification and won’t filter this wine, but there’s nothing wild or unclean here. This is a standout Aligoté.
