Description
If you’ve made your way to the Hattingley Blanc de Blancs, it probably means that you appreciate the finer things in life.
Despite a cold, wet start, 2019 was a virtually perfect growing season in what was a record-breaking summer period. 13% of the total blend was fermented in old Burgundy barrels with the remainder in tank for around six months, before undergoing secondary fermentation and spending more than five years ageing in bottle.
This will continue to mature and develop over the coming years so no need to rush to drink all of your bottles at once.
Ethan’s One-Liner: “I was lucky enough to be able to serve the 2015 vintage on my wedding day, and I’m happy to report the 2019 would make the grade with style & aplomb. Trust me when I say you won’t want to share this”.
Tasting Note: A radiant pale gold, this classical Blanc de Blancs exudes delicate aromas of green apple, and quince jam, lifted by a light-footed citrus backbone. Creamy and textured, with buttered brioche and yellow plum, it leads to a long, dry, and savoury finish laced with richness. Built to age, this is the perfect sequel to the much-loved 2015 vintage. Drinking beautifully now but cellaring for 5 years would no doubt add to its charm.
Origin: Hampshire, England
