Description
Raspberry – Cherry – Redcurrant
In 1856, the Lacoste family acquired their first vineyards on the highest bank of the Garonne River, just 30 minutes southwest of Bordeaux. In 2005, sixth-generation winemaker Vincent converted the estate to organic viticulture, employimg gentle extraction techniques, avoiding oak influence and steering clear of lees contact, ensuring a delicate, pure expression of fruit.
Claret is a light, chilled red made from hand-harvested, co-fermented young vine Merlot and Sémillon. Around 50% whole bunch is used, with a 20-day semi-carbonic maceration on skins to enhance freshness and aromatic lift. Fermentation is natural and spontaneous, with temperature control to retain purity of fruit. The wine is lightly fined using mineral agents and gently filtered, then aged for six months before bottling. It pours an intense crimson, with bright, lifted red fruits. You’ll get notes of raspberry; frozen cherry and redcurrant. Juicy acid with soft powdery tannins and a touch of green capsicum.
Grapes: Merlot, Semillon
Pair with: Cured meats, pizza, tomatoes
