Description
The “Austernkalk” estate wine come from particularly skeletal and fossil-rich limestone soils. In these vineyards, fossilised oysters, mussels, and even sharks teeth can be found, having turned to stone here since the time of the primeval sea. Now they are part of the unique terroir of this Riesling.
Spontaneously fermented for five weeks with natural yeasts from the vineyard, 30% in traditional oak barrels and 70% in stainless steel tanks, and bottled after 6 months natural aging on the lees.
Tasting note: On the palate, juicy, herbaceous, beautiful citrus fruit, deeply mineral, sophisticated, subtle spice, assertive character and a long, fresh finish.
Origin: Rheinhessen Germany
Blend: Riesling
