Description
The 2011 vintage experienced lower winter rainfall and an unexpected March bloom, earlier than usual. However, sudden extreme heat in June caused some bunches, especially in early varieties like Tinta Barroca, to burn. Despite cooler months in July and August with some rain, the high temperatures in September required an accelerated harvest to prevent overripe grapes.
Tasting Note: The 2011 Niepoort Vintage boasts a rich, ruby hue that was undoubtedly enhanced by the severe winter. Aromas of luscious fruit are complemented by notes of spices and pepper. The palate is refreshing and refined, characterised by a robust structure, delicate tannins, and a lingering finish. This exceptional vintage from Niepoort is sure to be enjoyed for years to come.
