Description
The Gimonnet family has cultivated vines in Champagne since the 18th century. The official domaine was founded in 1935, operating today as a grower. They have 28 hectares of vineyards spanning both Premier Cru and Grand Cru villages (Cuis, Cramant, Chouilly, Oger, Vertus, Aÿ, Mareuil-sur-Aÿ). They specialise in Blanc de Blancs Champagnes with a focus on terroir expression, finesse, minerality, and elegance.
Tasting Note: The 2008 vintage, spent 13 years on lees before disgorgement, is a light straw gold hue with lovely fine delicate bubbles. It almost feels like a blend of a high end Meursault and top vintage champagne, a nose of Anjou pears and apple with hint of citrus, along with classic brioche notes, it evolves on the palate with creamy notes and baked spiced apples with a touch of hazelnuts before a velvety long finish that has a balanced acidity through out. For those interested it is Extra Brut with 4g/l.
Alc: 12.5%
