Description

Chateau Musar Red 1997 is a vintage that encapsulates a near-perfect growing season in the Bekaa Valley. Following a normal winter and a fresh spring, the grapes matured slowly, yielding a wine of exceptional depth and balance.

Hailing from Chateau Musar’s historic vineyards, this red reflects the estate’s long tradition of minimal intervention winemaking. The careful hand-harvesting and slow fermentation ensured that 80% of the harvest entered the cellar under ideal conditions, setting the scene for a truly remarkable wine.

Fermented from Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, and Carignan in cement vats, the grapes enjoyed an extended, gentle fermentation process. The wine was blended after a meticulous tasting phase and then allowed to evolve in bottle, developing its character over several years before release.

Chateau Musar Red 1997 is celebrated for its rich, warm colour, paling delicately towards the rim, and a smoky, spiced nose that mingles with aromas of mixed berries. On the palate, it offers flavours of cherries, redcurrants, and pomegranates, balanced by Christmas spices such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. Its elegant structure and good acidity promise long ageing potential, making it a prized collectible.

Pairing Suggestions: Ideal with roast lamb, hearty casseroles, or mature cheeses to complement its complex spice and fruit profile.

Tasting Note: Rich, smoky aromas of mixed berries and Christmas spices with a palate of cherries, redcurrants, and pomegranate, underscored by well-integrated tannins.
