Description
There is something almost meditative about this Yamazaki, fully matured in Mizunara oak. From the first nosing, it brings a sense of calm and zen. Given time in the glass, delicate woody and incense-like notes emerge, with a gentle touch of orange bringing brightness. On the palate, ginger spice and dark cherry unfold across a silky texture, before giving way to sandalwood and a deep yet remarkably restrained Mizunara character.
Quiet and composed, it reminds me of a monk who seldom speaks, but whose presence says enough. The lingering woody finish evokes an ancient Japanese temple, taking me back to Kyoto and the stillness of a bamboo grove. For me, this is Mizunara at its most elegant.
