Description
Chartreuse Distillery, founded in 1605 by Carthusian monks in the French Alps, is famous for its complex herbal liqueurs. Chartreuse Yellow, introduced in 1840, is a milder and sweeter variant of the original green liqueur. The recipe for Chartreuse Yellow includes 130 different herbs, plants and flowers, making it one of the most complex liqueurs in the world. The exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, known only to two monks at any given time.
